uwahati Branch Office organized a sensitization programme for Gram Panchayats on December 12 2023 at Bonaigaon for 65 Gram panchayats. The event was chaired by Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad, Anupam Deka (ACS) and Coordinated by Resource Person Lamsuanlun Tonsing, Scientist C, Rahul Roy , Scientist-B, P.K Kandoi Ex Deputy Director General-Eastern Region, Barashajyoti Baishya, Shubham Sanu.
The sensitization program involved a presentation on the BIS and its recent initiatives. The Gram Pradhan’s were provided with valuable insights into how BIS standards play a crucial role in various sectors, including agriculture, industry, and consumer protection. The Gram Pradhans were also briefed on the effective use of informative Gram Panchayat booklets containing important standards. They were also informed about the importance of adhering to these standards in government purchases to ensure that public funds are utilized efficiently and effectively.
