Kerala’s Kozhikode’s confinement zones are still subject to Nipah Virus restrictions

In Kerala, there has been one more Nipah virus case reported as being confirmed. According to information from the Health Minister’s Office, a 39-year-old male who has the virus is being monitored in a hospital in Kozhikode. Six infections have already been reported overall.

In the state of the most recent outbreak, a 24-year-old healthcare worker became the fifth confirmed Nipah case on Wednesday. A nine-year-old child is still in serious condition and is one of the three afflicted patients receiving treatment. So far, 2 fatalities have been documented. These incidents are all centered in Kozhikode, which has caused concern in the area.

The Kozhikode district’s confinement zones numbered about 11 wards. Additionally, until Saturday, September 16, all academic institutions were closed, according to the district administration.

Earlier this week, the health department said virus strain of the current outbreak is the Bangladesh variant that spreads from humans and has a high mortality rate but it is far less infectious.
