Digital Desk: Guwahati Planetarium is all set to upgrade its technology in the coming
year, 2023 from its outdated version of the existing 2K2D projection to
a highly advanced 4K3D (All dome projection system).
“We are doing this so as to share with our audience a stirring view of
the dome sky and make space watching moments become more
exhilarating and virtually realistic”-an official source said.
The existing 2k2D projection system of the Guwahati Planetarium is
now deemed as an out-of-date projection technology by the
planetarium authorities. “ The average life expectancy of these
projectors are 5 years and they have already given their service for
more than 11 years, which is more than double of its expected period
of service”- they said.
It is to be mentioned that the 2K2D projection accessories are not
available in the market as the technology has become obsolete and no
more existing in the line of production.
Hence the planetarium has strongly recommended an up-gradation of
the existing 2K2D All Dome Projection System to the latest 4K3D (All
dome projection system)

educational institutes and a whole mass of tourists and visitors
thronging to the region to take a glimpse of the virtual dark and deep
space.
