A bizarre incident from Auraiya, Uttar Pradesh, has gone viral after a woman dislocated her jaw while attempting to eat an oversized phuska or pani puri. The incident took place on December 1, 2025, and gained attention after the video of the woman, unable to close her mouth, circulated widely on social media.
According to reports, the woman, identified as Inkala Devi, had visited a street food stall with her family. While trying to eat an unusually large pani puri in a single bite, she opened her mouth wider than usual, causing her jaw to lock in an open position.
Her family quickly rushed her to a nearby clinic for emergency assistance. Medical staff initially attempted to manually reset her jaw but, due to complications, she was later referred to a higher medical college hospital for specialized treatment.
Doctors have stated that such cases, though uncommon, can occur when excessive pressure is applied to the jaw joints while eating large or hard food items.
