India Opposition MP’s meet Manipur governor Anusuiya Uikey, submits memorandum
On the second day of a two-day visit to the violent northeastern state of Manipur, a delegation of 21 opposition lawmakers from the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A) bloc met Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhawan in Imphal and briefed her on the current situation there.
The committee met victims of ethnic skirmishes on Saturday while visiting multiple relief camps in Churachandpur, Moirang in the Bishnupur district, and Imphal.
The leaders of the opposition argued that the prolonged conflict affects nearly every segment of society, including women, children, and students, and that it is past due to take effective action to put an end to it.
They advised the governor that the issue wasn’t only one of law and order; it also involved an ethnic conflict that required particular attention. As a result, they said, the state needed to take necessary action to put an end to the conflict and eradicate enmity between the groups.
