Indian Army arrested three people while foiling a major attempt to smuggle arms and narcotics after a gunfight near the border fence along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.
According to reports, an Army jawan was hurt during the early morning gunfire near forward Karmara hamlet in the Gulpur sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
As soon as the shots had been fired, the area was completely sealed off. Along with a shipment of drugs and firearms, three persons were also detained, one of whom was injured.
Mohd Farooq (26), who suffered a gunshot wound to his leg, Mohd Riaz (23), and Mohd Zubair (22) were the three accused who were apprehended. They’re each Karmara locals.
They are thought to have received the weaponry and drug shipment from the other side of the border and were trying to smuggle them into the Indian side when they were stopped by the soldiers.
The Army also found 20 packages of suspected heroin, an AK assault rifle, two handguns, six grenades, and an IED hidden inside a pressure cooker.
