On Thursday night, Biparjoy is anticipated to make landfall in Gujarat’s Kutch area close to the Jakhau port.

The severe cyclonic storm developed over the Arabian Sea on June 6, 2023. The storm has maximum sustained winds of 125 kilometers per hour and is moving to the northwest at 15 kilometers per hour.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Gujarat, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall and strong winds. Rough ocean and high wind speeds are expected to create havoc in the Kutch region, especially where the intensity of the cyclone is likely to trigger wind speeds of up to 135 km per hour.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has designated a total of 33 teams to carry out relief and rescue operations across Gujarat and Maharashtra.
