Andhra Pradesh Police have registered a case against five staff members of the Srisailam Mallikarjuna Annasatra after videos surfaced online showing them dancing to film songs and item numbers inside temple-linked premises.
The incident took place at the Mallikarjuna Annasatra, a free food service centre attached to the revered Srisailam temple, during New Year celebrations.
Based on a complaint filed by a Chief Security Officer, police booked the case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). An inquiry was also initiated for violating temple rules and provisions of the Endowments Act.
Temple officials stated that the alleged vulgar dances hurt the religious sentiments of devotees. Srisailam Devasthanam Executive Officer Srinivas Rao reiterated that dancing or recording reels inside the temple or its associated premises is strictly prohibited.
Mallikarjuna Annasatra Chairman Shyam confirmed that all five staff members have been removed from duty following the inquiry, calling their actions disrespectful to devotees.
Temple authorities warned of strict legal action against anyone found violating temple norms in the future.
